Revamping your garden needn’t break the bank. For those who want to restore their outdoor area without splashing out, a savvy gardener has shared a brilliant and budget-friendly tip that shows you don’t have to spend a fortune to achieve an aesthetically pleasing space.

Polysand, or polymeric sand, is also known as jointing sand and is a mixture of sand and polymer binders made to fill paver joints, says Sakrete.
The mixture hardens after its activated with water, forming a firm, long-lasting and weed-resistant joint between paving stones. Weather resistant against heavy rain, the sand is installed by first being placed within the joint gaps between pavers, and then spraying the filled gaps with water. This activates the polymer binders, causing them to harden and bind the sand together.
In her tutorial, Lisa explains: “Okay, budget border, and this is good. I wanted something, but I didn’t want to spend a fortune.
“We had small bricks so I got Gav to dig out a trench, put the bricks in, and then we added some polysand, filled all of the gaps in, and then you just add water, and it’s done. How brilliant is that? £14.” For those looking to replicate her efforts, polysand is available at Wickes for £14, or on Amazon starting at £12.99.
Lisa also expressed her desire to “normalise normal gardens”, sharing her passion for a “garden faff”. In a world where social media often showcases picture-perfect gardens, she aims to demonstrate that you can create a charming outdoor space without spending heaps of cash.
The compliments came flooding in, with admirers saying: “That looks so lovely and smart;” “that polysand made quite the difference, it looks great;” “really pretty! Cottage vibes;” and “oh wow, that’s such a good idea”.
Lisa shared how pleased she was with the response acknowledging the “cottage vibes,” precisely the aesthetic she aimed for. She expressed her gratitude for the kind words, responding with thanks and adding how “easy and brilliant” the whole process was.
