Police are hunting a moped rider who fled the scene of a fatal collision involving a female cyclist on a busy West London street in yesterday’s evening rush hour. Emergency services rushed to King Street, Hammersmith, shortly after 5.40pm yesterday (Friday, August 25), following reports of a crash between a bike and a moped.
The female cyclist was aged in her 40s and was suffering from critical injuries when the paramedics arrived. Despite their efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are now searching for the moped driver, who is understood to have fled the scene on foot.
A Met Police spokesman said: “Around 5.40pm on Friday, 22 August, officers attended King Street, Hammersmith, following reports of a collision between a moped and a bicycle.
“The cyclist, a woman in her 40s, was found with critical injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The driver of the moped left the scene on foot, and officers are making enquiries to locate them.
“Road closures are in place. Anybody who witnessed the incident, or who has information, should call 101, quoting CAD 5782/22AUG.”
