When it comes to proposals, it can be hard to decide when and where to do it, but one man took his bride-to-be to her favourite eatery and secretly hid the ring inside his meal
It is hard to come up with a unique and non-cliché proposal when planning the special occasion to ask your partner to marry you. While some opt for grand gestures, others know their fiancé-to-be would prefer something more lowkey and intimate. One man has sparked mixed reactions after proposing to his partner while eating a McDonald’s.
One woman, named Jem, was gobsmacked when she and her partner were out on a date night and he popped the question. The duo were sat in the outdoor seating area of a McDonald’s – which Jem claims to love. She was about to tuck into her McChicken nuggets and chips, when her partner opened up his burger to reveal a heart-shaped diamond ring sitting in the cheeseburger bun.
On TikTok, Jem said: “I thought we were just having a normal date night… until this happened.”
“I said yes of course,” she confirmed while showing off her hand with the ring on.

The post, shared on TikTok, has raked in over six million views. It has divided opinion; while some think it is sweet and appreciate the intimacy others aren’t so keen on the proposal location.
“To him this is your worth,” candidly said one who doesn’t like it.
“Mc no,” said another. “It won’t last,” added another. “Imagine your man taking you to McDutty’s to propose,” wrote a fourth.
“Straight back to his burger in the third picture,” commented another on Instagram as Ladbible shared snaps of the post.
“I like how he just casually goes back to his burger,” agreed another.
“It’s the thought that counts,” sarcastically wrote another.
Back on TikTok, people rushed to show support for the newly engaged couple. One individual said: “Everyone hating but I’d love it if I got proposed like this.”
Another admitted: “When I say this is my literal dream proposal (but with a Big Mac) Congratulations.”
“My kind of proposal to be honest,” agreed another. One other wrote: “Aw I really love this because it’s between you both and it would definitely catch me by surprise, I’m lovin’ it.”
One other pointed out: “Honestly I’d prefer this over a big proposal, so much less anxiety and now you can go get McDonald’s as your engagement anniversary dinner and it’ll be a fun little memory! You have the whole wedding to go crazy.”
Another, echoing the same sentiment, said: “Not every proposal has to be some big, pre planned, fake, elaborate spectacle. I’d rather have a man that loves me carrying a ring around in his pocket waiting for the moment that feels right.”
