A woman is fighting for her life and a man has been arrested on suspicion of careless driving after a collision on the London border. Essex Police have appealed for information from the public after the incident in Waltham Abbey during the early hours of this morning (Sunday, May 19).
The woman suffered serious injuries and is in hospital. Police have been carrying out investigative work at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for any dashcam footage or witnesses to a serious collision in Waltham Abbey. At about 4.30am this morning, Sunday May 19, we were called to the scene of a single vehicle collision in Avey Lane.

“A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, which are believed to be life-threatening. A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
“The road is currently closed while our roads policing officers carry out their investigations at the scene. We are appealing for any information, witnesses or dashcam footage from the area around the time of the collision.
