It can be hard to wash your hair while camping or staying outdoors in a tent for a music festival but one woman has found a simple solution that doesn’t require any water
A woman has found the ‘best’ hack to wash your hair while camping or at a festival. Summer is a popular time of year for outdoor activities and events and many people stay in tents when they go camping or attend a music festival as these often involve staying at a site overnight.
However, spending so much time outdoors can make it harder to access facilities like showers or even water in some cases. Chelsea Dickenson, who shares tips on how to spend less on holiday, has found a possible solution for how to wash your hair without any water. She posted a video on TikTok demonstrating how to use a rinse free shampoo cap. The self-proclaimed ‘cheap holiday expert’ said: “I have been so buzzing about testing this all week.”
Chelsea tried out the Nilaqua shampoo cap that can be bought from Boots for £3.25. She opened the packaging and got out the disposable cap that is filled with shampoo.
The travel content creator noted that on the front of the packaging it says to microwave the cap but on the back it says it can be used cold.
Holding up the shower cap Chelsea added: “Apparently all the shampooey goodness is inside here.”
She then read out the instructions: “Place cap onto head, tuck hair inside and massage hair through the cap.”
Her first thoughts were that it was “quite nice actually.” After getting her friend James to help her massage her hair through the cap Chelsea said that it felt “lovely.”
The budget travel expert then took the cap off her head and admitted that she didn’t know what to expect.
She looked pleasantly surprised and thought that her hair “looked good.” James told her that her hair smelled “coconutty” after using the shower cap and deemed it to be “impressive.”
Chelsea remarked: “Honestly, I feel like I’ve had a fresh hair wash. Whilst it dries I’ve stuck it in some plaits. Let’s see how it is in about an hour’s time.”
After letting her hair dry for a few hours she shared that she was “chuffed” with the result, noting that it “does feel like it’s been washed.”
The rinse free shower cap got a “massive thumbs up” from Chelsea. In the caption of her TikTok video she explained: “So I saw a video on TikTok where someone was flogging a SHAMPOO CAP which washed your hair without water and I thought ‘this would be great for festivals and camping,’
“Even better was when I found a similar style of shampoo cap on Boots for just £3.25 – so I bought one, and took it along to Glastonbury with me.”
The Nilaqua rinse free shower cap is designed to allow you to wash your hair effectively without water or rinsing, leaving your hair soft and clean.
More than 200 people have commented on Chelsea’s post to have their say on this product.
One user disclosed: “We use these in the hospice I work in, and they are amazing for those who are bed bound and need a good hair wash, always makes them feel better.”
Another said: “This would be an amazing solution in hospitals or postpartum when you literally can’t leave your newborn! Wish I had that would have helped massively.” A third chimed in: “Well I didn’t know these existed! What a great idea!”
