A woman shared some photos of her husband, who claims not to like cats, and they were totally unexpected. The pair of them looked very well-acquainted and comfortable
Anyone who knows anything about cats will know that they tend to have their chosen person. The lucky person they happily snuggle with and have chin scratches from, without causing any drama. However, if their chosen human isn’t available, sometimes they’ll temporarily form new alliances with the spare humans in the house. But, they shouldn’t get used to it, as the dynamic will likely change when their favourite human is back.
Similarly, some people claim that they don’t like cats. But when no one else is around, they’ll happily accept attention and love from their family feline. And that’s exactly what happened to one woman and her husband.
Taking to Reddit’s ‘Aww’ forum, an anonymous poster wrote: “My husband insists he doesn’t like cats, as he sends me a pic of him cradling Jonesy as he falls asleep while being held”.
In the first picture, Jonesy, the gorgeous ginger cat, could be seen looking slightly sly. Adorably, he’s very much giving an ‘I know I’m cute’ look.
In the second picture, Jonesy was looking lovingly at the woman’s husband, enjoying snuggles with him.
Jonesy looked a little bit like he was trying to figure out what was going on – but he was soaking up the attention regardless.
In the final picture, however, the bond had clearly been cemented. Jonesy was properly snuggled up against the woman’s husband, who was slightly smirking in the picture, wondering whether he was now the chosen one of the household.
In the comments, someone explained that they think cats know when you’re not actually a cat person.
They wrote: “As a husband who did not want a cat, but caved to surprise his wife, these little monsters absolutely know when you are not a cat person and make it their personal mission to break that.
“She started by sleeping between us before slowly kicking our dogs off of my side of the bed. I am 100% a devoted cat dad now, and might take the majority of the blame for why she is absolutely spoiled rotten”.
Another responded: “The funniest thing is that the behaviour that initially calms cats the most at and builds trust is exactly what most casually non-cat people do, which is to ignore them and give them space. You probably did everything right to make that cat adore you.”
And a further commenter joked: “Yeah, you can tell he really hates cats. It’s very obvious. I always hold the cats I hate…”
The original poster responded: “And take close up pics of you holding them like a baby”.
Others said that this is a “tale as old as time” and everyone ends up loving the pet they claim they don’t want or like. We wouldn’t be able to resist that cute face either!
