A couple were left gobsmacked after the wife showed off the new Disney-themed socks she’d bought from Temu, only for them to spot a big ‘mistake’ printed onto them
A couple were left in stiches after the woman unwrapped the Disney-themed socks she’d gotten from Temu only to find massive ‘mistake’ on them.
Temu is known and loved for its eclectic array of budget friendly products, with the online marketplace home to countless items spanning departments including fashion, homeware and more. However, you never know what you might get when ordering from the Chinese shopping site, as many shoppers have taken to social media to share their ‘Temu fails’ as they receive something that’s nothing like the products they thought they’d bought.
This was the case for one woman, who decided to order herself some adorable socks with Disney characters on them for her upcoming holiday to one of the Disney Parks. However, what arrived had her bursting out in laughter.
“So, this is why you should never order products from Temu because my wife here tried to order some nice Disney socks for our upcoming Disney trip, and just take a look at the things that came in the mail,” the man in the TikTok video shares, as he went on to share his wife’s new socks.
He went on to say that while the socks might look normal at first, it will quickly become apparent what might not be accurate with them.
For the first pair of socks, an embroidered version of Chip, from Chip and Dale, was seen on them. However, the man then flipped the sock, as the name of each character was written on the sole of each sock. However, instead of saying Chip, the sock instead had ‘Chib’ printed onto the sock.
While it might be easy to call this a one-off mistake, the man then moved on to the second pair of sock which had Mickey Mouse embroidered onto the shaft of the sock. As the man turned the sock over, viewers could see he had been named ‘Mikey’, which was printed on the sole of the sock.
This same patterned continued for the other pairs of socks, which also saw the embroidered characters looks fairly similar to the original characters. These included Minnie Mouse, who became ‘Mimnee’, Donald Duck, who was named Tonaid, and finally Piglet from Winnie the Pooh, who was named ‘Bigeet’.
Viewers were left in hysterics after watching the video, as many took to the comment section to share their thoughts and jokes about the situation.
One person said: “Tonaid has me WHEEZING.”
While someone else joked: “Who gets stuck with all the bad luck? No one, but Tonaid Duck.”
A third person chimed in: “Tonaid. I hope someone buys me these for Xmas haha.”
While a lot of user went on to say that the weird names are most likely in a way to avoid copyright claims from Disney, someone else went on to theorise: “Maybe they read in another language e.g. in Finnish they would be quite different e.g. Donald Duck is in Finnish Aku Ankka.”
However, several people were also baffled to learn this, as they went on to express that they’d had nothing but good experiences when ordering from the Chinese website. One user said: “that’s crazy. I’ve been for ordering from Temu for a while now and I haven’t had any real issues nothing like this..”
Temu has been contacted for comment.
