One woman claims her moment of limelight was ruined in a split second, when receiving a hurtful shaming text from a family friend, shocking countless people on the internet

A woman has taken the internet by storm after claiming that her big baby announcement was wrecked by one utterly harsh text message.

Announcing a pregnancy is supposed to be an idyllic moment filled with ‘wows’, ‘yay’s’ and ‘congratulations’. But one woman claims her big moment was ruined in a split second, when receiving a hurtful text from a family friend.

Before delving into the story, the anonymous Reddit user claimed that she’d held a big wedding four months ago, having conceived her baby one month into the new marriage. At the time, it’s said she was ‘not overweight at all’ but she still received a fat-shaming message.

A screenshot from the heated conversation was posted to the platform earlier this week, which kicked off when the Redditor sent over some hospital scans of her new baby. “Wow. Congrats!”, the family friend replied before brutally adding: “You looked fatter in your wedding photos. Now I know why.”

Gobsmacked, the Redditor then responded: “I wasn’t pregnant on my wedding day….” Unsurprisingly, the text exchange has since racked up countless comments online, with many users equally shocked about the unkind interaction.

One person wrote: “Who just says things like that? What, did they think you waited until now to share ultrasound photos? That’s not a friend.” Another added: “Had something similar happen to me. I was about 6 weeks pregnant when my husband proposed. When we told my grandma at around 12 weeks, she just said ‘Oh, that’s why your stomach looked so huge in your proposal pictures!’.”

Amid this, the Redditor assured everyone that the family friend was certainly regretting it now, having received a taste of their own medicine in return, though it’s unclear what this was. Writing on the platform, she said: “Don’t worry, I showed this to my brother and he lost his mind, messaged the family friend and absolutely ripped him a new ***hole. Also not that it should matter what my weight is, but I’m not overweight at all.”

Many then chimed in to show their support of this, with one soon writing: “Love your response and so glad that your brother has your back!!! Congrats on your pregnancy,” as someone else chimed in: “This is not a friend. Keep some distance,” and a third said: “Glad your brother has your back!”
