A woman was ‘shaking and fuming’ after her neighbour shouted at her five-year-old son for making too much noise and hitting a ball against a fence – but not everyone is on her side

A mum has opened up about how she was left “shaking and fuming” following a furious row with her neighbour.

TikTok user @reneebarendregt explained her neighbour had “yelled” at her from “across the fence” because her five-year-old son was “playing ball” in his own back garden and enjoying the sun. Renee was in disbelief at what had happened.

She said she and her son had been kicking the ball into the goal, and it had “hit the fence a few times”. The woman next door then shouted at her children, saying “You kids stop hitting that fence”, and Renee said: “Excuse me! Do not talk to my kids like that”.

The following video contains strong language:

The neighbour then claimed that her animals were scared because of the banging noises, so Renee suggested she took them inside, pointing out that she was playing with her son and the ball was sometimes “accidentally” hitting the fence. She pointed out that the fence was also hers.

“And then she goes, ‘How about you teach your children some respect’,” Renee explained. She said her child wasn’t being “malicious” by hitting the fence by mistake.

The woman then sarcastically called Renee “lovely”, saying she was going to “start recording” her. Renee said “go ahead” as the police have “bigger fish to fry”. She finished the video by refusing to stop playing ball with her son, and said her neighbour should “get over it”. In a final act of defiance, she said she kicked the ball onto the fence herself and told the neighbour: “And lastly, here’s one f**king more.”

In the comments, many said that the mum should take her son to the park, with one writing: “I’m with your neighbour on this one, take your kids to the park.” Another said: “If it’s disturbing her, move the goal. We all have to compromise and coexist. It’s not worth the long-term bad vibes plus it probably does upset her pets.”

Other responses included: “It’s not hard to be a considerate neighbour”, “Just move the goal babe”, and “That noise would drive me mental”. Someone else thought the neighbour could’ve been “more polite” when they asked, but they stood by the fact that she was in the right.
