A mum-to-be has come up with a genius way to still enjoy wine night with her friends, without them suspecting she is pregnant – the hack has been hailed as ‘so smart’

A mum-to-be has been praised for her clever trick that allows her to enjoy a drink with pals while keeping her big news under wraps.

For anyone who wishes to have a child, seeing a positive pregnancy test is so exciting. While there’s no right or wrong time when to tell your loved ones you are expecting, the NHS says that many people wish to wait until the 12-week mark before sharing the news – when the risk of miscarriage goes down.

While pregnant women experience hormonal and body changes, for those who love to socialise, changes also have to be made too – including ditching the booze.

One woman was left in an awkward dilemma after she had organised a wine night at her home with some of her girl friends. Not ready to share her pregnancy news yet, she came up with a brilliant way she could still appear to be drinking wine without her friends raising any eyebrows.

Jackie, a teacher who lives in The Great Lakes area of the US, often shares life hacks on her TikTok page @jackie_k_dunn where she has rakes in millions of watchers on her videos, as well as over 10.9million page likes. In a recent video, which raked in over 6.5million views, Jackie demonstrated how she would manipulate her non-alcoholic wine to make it look like she is drinking the real stuff.

She said: “When you just found out you’re pregnant, but you’ve had this wine night with the girls planned for weeks. And it’s way too early to tell them” She used a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc as well as non-alcoholic version. She poured the alcoholic wine into a large decanter for her guests to share.

Then she thoroughly cleaned the wine bottle out, before pouring in her non-alcoholic wine to avoid suspicion. The content creator also explained that while she posted the video on April 17, she recorded it in February and has since informed her friends of the news.

One viewer hailed her trick as “so smart”. Another said: “I did this but with apple ciders – refilled them all with apple juice and soda water for the fizz.” One other suggested using elderflower cordial as an alternative as “it would be the perfect colour” to appear as white wine. One other wrote: “I did this with gin. Had a work event and took my own gin which was non alcoholic, no one suspected anything.”

But others said they would just tell their friends they were ill, don’t want to drink, or inform them of the news. “I’d just say I have a headache,” one said. Another suggested: “Just say you have a headache and aren’t drinking today.”

One other added: “Some people are superstitious and that’s OK. Some just want to make sure they are out of risky time, but my friends are the ones I’d tell if anything unfortunate happened so they may as well know!”

“The way I would just tell them because I am a lazy yapper,” commented one other.
