A cleaning pro has shared the way she manages to get more done with the time that she has, and others have said the ‘positive reinforcement’ definitely work for them

Cleaning is often a task that gets avoided because it takes forever and can sometimes be unpleasant, but one woman has shared a hack to get it done much quicker.

TikTok cleanfluencer @sierra.honeycutt explained she’d “been so lazy lately” that she “had to bring out the mind games” and “bribes” in order to get things done in her home, because otherwise she’d be too tempted to let things stay as they were.

Sierra said that she’d been “unmotivated” as her video showed her lounging under a blanket on the sofa – so she had to force herself to do a “one hour speed clean”.

She admitted that when she gets in a “slump”, she “sets a timer” for however long she can dedicate to it, “whether it’s 10 minutes, 20 minutes or an hour”, and she’ll “bribe” herself to get motivated for the cleaning task.

In the video, she could be seen clearing away toys from the floor that her children had played with, and moving the cushions on the sofa to look plump again. “Today, I am bribing myself with a bath and a good movie after the kids go to bed,” she shared, saying it was like a “mind game” to offer yourself something for participating in cleaning, and it makes you “clean twice as fast”.

She then cleaned her bathroom so she could “cash in” her reward later, and she said the timer is “always in the back of her head” so it makes her clean faster. She joked: “I was literally sweating at this point”.

Sierra said there’s no better feeling than your house smelling and feeling good, and as she decided to put some washing away, her timer went off – but she’d managed to get through a lot.

In the comments, she was praised for giving people the motivation to clean. One wrote: “Watching cleantok til I get motivation to clean… yours did it! Thank you!!!” Another said: “My bribe is ordering food,” and Sierra responded saying: “Whatever helps you get it done”. Someone else added: “Humans love positive reinforcement.”
