A woman’s 500ml can of Monster Energy drink was substituted for something rather unexpected in a online order mishap that has left users of X (formerly Twitter) in stitches

A woman who placed an order for a can of Monster Energy drink has been stunned by what it was swapped out for.

The 500ml can of Monster was unavailable for her order and therefore replaced, as was a 200ml L’Oreal thickening conditioner. While the hair product was replaced with a colour protect bottle at the same price, her hopes of a cold canned beverage were scuppered.

The X (formerly Twitter) user found themselves with a 500ml can of “locked in flavour” beef stock from Potts, which appeared to have been flagged as the substitute for her out of stock Monster. Maddie, the original poster, was less than pleased.

She shared an image of the order and beef stock, leaving X users in stitches. One wrote: “What the flying f**k is that substitution?” Another wrote: “Are you able to get reimbursed for that? Like if I asked for lavender shampoo and they got a different shampoo I wouldn’t care, but they gave you a can of beef juice…”

Some saw the funny side and offered recommendations on how to drink the broth. One wrote: “Put it in a mug and microwave it. Toss in some salt and you have warmed sipping broth.” Another suggested the beef broth replacement was a better drink than the Monster can. They wrote: “Morning beef broth > morning monster.”

Another user claimed: “This is as good an upgrade as you’re likely to see.” Some dubbed the Potts’ Beef Stock a “forbidden Red Bull.” X users even claimed they could “shotgun” the beef stock and drink it in its entirety with little trouble. One said: “I would slam a can of beef stock, why are there not more of these? Gimme.” Another wrote: “Shotgun on hard mode.”

A small group of X users suggested the original poster should go to the store themselves rather than relying on deliveries, with one asking: “Maybe just go shopping yourself?” Another recommended ticking the “no substitutions” option in future.
