The British Transport Police has now launched a CCTV appeal to identify the two people pictured
A woman was sprayed with an unknown substance during a racist assault at a Tube station, police say. The victim was entering Bond Street, a busy stop in Mayfair, alongside her sister and two young children on October 11 when she was attacked.
A woman, walking in front of the family with a man, collided with the family’s pushchair, carrying one of the children, at around 7.30pm. The man then began shouting racial abuse at them before the woman grabbed the victim’s hair.
As she tried to defend herself, the man pulled out a small bottle he claimed was pepper spray and directed it at the victim and her family. They were then subjected to abuse and lewd gestures from the woman.
The pair left the area before help from the British Transport Police (BTP) could be arranged. Though uninjured, the force is working to identify what liquid was sprayed at the family.
A CCTV appeal to identify two people of interest has now been launched, with officers believing the pair pictured may have information relevant to their investigation. The woman is White, of average height and slight build, and has long blonde hair.
She is wearing a white blouse under a black knee-length jacket or blazer, with black flared leather-style trousers and black shoes. She is also carrying a black handbag with a chain strap.
The man is also White, tall and of medium build, with greying hair styled into a quiff. He is wearing a white shirt under a navy shacket, with khaki or grey trousers and grey Suede-style trainers.
He also appears to be wearing a white beaded bracelet on his wrist.
Anyone with information is urged to contact BTP by texting 61016, quoting 413 of 12 October. Anonymous reports can be made to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111 or the charity’s website.
