A woman was gobsmacked when she turned her back on her dad for ‘a minute’ while shopping – as she was faced with him doing something that made her laugh more than she had in years

There’s nothing quite like being out and about and seeing little samples of food that you can try – probably with zero intention of actually buying them. But, a freebie is a freebie, and a win is a win. Plus, the likelihood is that the free sample is pretty tasty, and you might even be persuaded to give them a go, even if the price tag is through the roof.

However, one poor man got far more than he bargained for when he decided to give the ‘Cinnamon Latte’ treats a go while shopping in the garden centre with his daughter. He quickly realised that they were not sweets to be tried – and were actually wax melts.

His daughter, Sara Whitters, posted the ordeal on Facebook, saying that she’d laughed so much at her poor dad’s expense because of the incident.

She wrote: “I haven’t laughed as much in YEARS! Went out for the morning with mum and dad. Browsing through a garden centre, and I swear I turned my back for A MINUTE!

“My dad thought these wax melts were samples of sweets on offer, chowing down nicely til I told him”.

The hilarious picture showed her dad looking disgusted as he opened his mouth, unsure about where to put the wax melts that he was unknowingly chomping down on.

Sara then took a picture of the wax melts, which did, admittedly, look very much like large wax melts rather than samples of sweets.

However, if you’re not familiar with the world of candles, it’s understandable how he could’ve got confused and giddy when faced with the items.

The dad ended up with a mouthful of wax and a tonne of regret – but at least he made people on the internet laugh!

In the comments, someone joked that he’d be “chewing them for a wick”.

Meanwhile, another laughed: “But his mouth did smell nice and fragrant for 20 hours.”

Further responders said they’d experienced similar mishaps in the past.

Another woman wrote: “I made colourful little soaps for my gran when I was younger, went upstairs to the bathroom, came back, and she handed me them back after doing the same thing, saying she didn’t like them. One had a big bite out of it. I didn’t think I had to clarify they weren’t edible lmao”.

And a commenter had a similar story featuring her husband. She penned: “Haha, my husband did this a few years back when I left some on the kitchen side after attending a Xmas fair.

“The change in his face as he was chewing, when I realised what he’d done, I just couldn’t stop laughing, I still remind him regularly at craft fairs not to touch the wax melts.”
