Tumble drying your clothes can leave them wrinkled, but one woman has come up with a ‘genius’ hack that could make your laundry smooth again without having to use an iron

Getting wrinkles out of your clothes doesn’t have to be a chore.

Let’s face it, no one particularly likes doing laundry. Putting your clothes in the washing machine isn’t exactly difficult, but deciding what to do with them afterwards can be a pain – especially thanks to the unpredictable UK weather.

Hanging them up outside is the best way to get clothes dry, but if it’s raining, that’s no good. Your next best option is the tumble dryer, provided you don’t mind forking out on your electricity bill, but that comes with its own issues – namely the way it leaves your clothes wrinkled and creased.

Thankfully, one woman has come up with a “genius” hack to solve that problem and leave your clothes crease-free. All you need is some water and a bit of patience.

According to TikTok user Stephanie Booth, who posts under the username @stephanieboothhome, you can get rid of wrinkles in your clothes by adding one thing to your tumble dryer – ice cubes.

You’ll have to either buy a bag of ice cubes or make your own using an ice cube tray and your freezer, but essentially all you need to make the trick work is some tap water and the patience to wait for it to freeze.

Once you’ve got your ice, just pop your wrinkled clothes back in your tumble dryer along with a few ice cubes. Whizz them around for a couple of minutes, and voila, the creases should have dropped right out.

In her clip, Stephanie explained that the trick is effective because as the ice melts into water in the heat of the tumble dryer, it creates steam, which works like a charm for smoothing out wrinkles. She advised: “After a few minutes, remember to take them out of your dryer, and the wrinkles are all gone!”

Social media users were astounded by Stephanie’s clever tip, with heaps of them hailing her as “so smart” and eagerly anticipating giving the technique a whirl.

One user exclaimed: “This is soooo smart! When my aunt used to ‘forget’ clothes in the dryer she would always put a wet washcloth in and re-dry them! “.

Someone else chimed in: “BRILLIANT! I will have to remember this one!” And another person contributed: “Holy cow, that’s genius.”
