Rachel Madell shared a clip of herself applying a plaster to her finger in a way that many people had never seen before, and we may have been doing it wrong for years

We all need to use a plaster from time to time.

From paper cuts to kitchen accidents – it’s easy to nick your finger on something sharp when you least expect it. But, sometimes, putting a plaster on a wound can be a bit of a faff.

This is because they don’t always fit right, or they can easily peel off if not stuck down properly. But these annoying plaster problems could actually be down to how you’re applying them.

Little did you know, you’ve probably been sticking plasters on the wrong way for years, as there’s a simple technique that ensures they go on perfectly and stay put.

Rachel Madell highlighted this clever life hack on TikTok, and it’s blown people’s minds, as the trick is a total game changer.

In the video, she takes a regular plaster and snips it with scissors on either side. She simply makes two cuts down to the middle of the plaster, making sure not to cut any of the white, cushioned part.

She then peels off the paper backing and places it onto her finger, but she doesn’t wrap it around. Instead, she uses the sliced sections to create a criss-cross on her finger, and it works like a charm.

Not only does this hold the plaster securely in place, but it also provides more coverage. There’s no excess plaster sticking out over the top, which often happens when you pop one on in a rush.

This method is straightforward, hassle-free and gets the job done right. It’s hard to believe so many people didn’t know about it before.

Since Rachel posted the hack online, people have been absolutely gobsmacked, and are itching to give it a go. One user commented: “I saved this video earlier today just in case I needed it some day. Thank you.”

Despite wowing loads of people with her tip, it seems Rachel herself was a bit late to the party in discovering the hack. Overlaid on the video, she wrote: “What would I do without the internet?”

Talk about a lightbulb moment!
