People are being urged to check their old games or consoles, as they could be worth a pretty penny

If you’re a fan of gaming and have amassed plenty of different ones over the years, it could be worth taking a good look at your collection – as you could be sitting on a fortune.

Whether you still get a lot of use out of these, or they’re just lying around your home, any clutter can make our spaces feel cramped and stressful. And while it can be tempting to get a fresh start by having a clear-out, you should first check how much your collection could be worth.

Decluttering expert Emma Knight from London storage company Urban Locker has urged everyone to check their junk as it may contain hidden gems that could be worth a fortune. Specifically, old computer games that you may not use any more could be worth up to £44,995.

The team scoured eBay for some of the most expensive video games and if you own any of the following you could be sitting on a gold mine.

Zelda Ocarina – Nintendo 64 £44,995

Zelda Ocarina was released in 1998 and is regarded as one of the best games of all time – and it could be even better if you have a copy of the game at home. Currently, this game is valued at £44,995 in factory-sealed condition.

However, if you don’t own a factory-sealed copy of the game, it could be worth a few quid. Other copies of this game without the box are still selling for upwards of £80 plus postage and packaging.

Super Mario 64 – Nintendo 64 £12,999

Super Mario 64, released in 1996, is a 3D platformer game for the Nintendo 64 and if you have this old game in its box and in perfect condition it could be worth £12,999.

If you have taken the game out of the box and have played it, it could still be worth up to £350. Not bad for something that could be collecting dust in your home.

Lakers Vs Celtics – Sega Mega Drive £5,995

Released in 1991 by Electronic Arts, this basketball game on the surface is nothing special but if you own it and it doesn’t even have to be in excellent condition, it could be worth up to £5,995.

The game itself is rare, but what makes it valuable is that it was never officially released in Europe, so there were only 13 copies of the game that ever left the EA factory. If you have one of those copies, you could cash in for a hefty sum.

Golden Axe III – Sega Mega Drive £1,888

Golden Axe III is a side-scrolling beat ’em up video game which was released by Sega in 1993.

While the game itself has mixed reviews with some fans expressing the opinion that it is the worst of the series, owning this game in good condition could put some extra money in your pocket.

This game, brand new in a box, could fetch up to £1888.

Grand Theft Auto – Playstation 1 £1,200

This is the game that started it all for the Grand Theft Auto series.

Grand Theft Auto was released in 1997 by Rockstar Games and was a groundbreaking hit. If you have this game and it’s in great condition you may be able to sell it to a collector for £1,200.

With the release of further Grand Theft Auto games, there is a good chance that the value of this game will increase too. If you don’t have the original game, the sequel is still of interest to collectors and could fetch up to £450 depending on the condition of the item.
