Fried eggs are a breakfast staple, but there is a simple trick that will make them taste better and be healthier – and all you need is an air fryer
Eggs are an absolute kitchen staple; often perched in the fridge or resting on a countertop thanks to their wonderful versatility. You might whip them up into fluffy scrambled eggs, a sturdy boiled egg, a delicate poached egg, or a hearty omelette.
And while frying them up isn’t the healthiest option out there, it’s a guilty pleasure for those slathering them on toast, pairing with avocado slices, or as part of a classic full English breakfast. Yet, what if you could indulge in your favourite fried eggs guilt-free?
Renne from Kudos Kitchen proposes a healthier and tastier twist on your conventional frying method: employ your air fryer instead.
She suggested: “Step away from the stovetop with this fast and cool cooking method.”
Ditching the oil, Renee advised using butter for a touch of richness, or reach for a cooking spray as the heart-smart alternative, reports the Express.
Devotees of her blog have been quick to sing the praises of this innovative fried egg technique.
Shadi Hasanzadenemati said: “Love how simple and easy this recipe is! I’ll be making it again!”.
Meanwhile, Callie wrote: “Omg this is one of the best ideas ever. Thank you. Too easy. They came out perfect.”
Jenny Lavender echoes the sentiment, saying:, “Loved this recipe – will probably make my fried eggs this way from now on instead of using the pan.”
Lastly, Celia George offers a handy tip.
She said: “Oh, my gosh – thank you for this incredible method of frying eggs – yes, because each machine is different, you will have to get your exact doneness by trial and error – and by pausing your air fryer to check on the doneness. But this method works.”
Air fryer fried eggs
Ingredients:
- Eggs.
- Butter or cooking spray.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
Method:
- Start by adding a small aluminium pan to the basket of an air fryer. You can use a cake tin, just anything that fits in the basket.
- Next, add the butter to the tin and heat at 180°C for around one minute for it to melt.
- Crack the egg into the heated tin – you can do as many as will fit in the tin.
- Cook in the air fryer at 190°C for four to five minutes, or until the whites are set and the yolks are cooked to your desired doneness.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
