Punk sensation Yungblud is planning to breathe fresh life into London’s live music scene with the opening of a brand new venue in central London. The artist has selected the iconic 20 Denmark Street in Soho, a legendary spot known for its rich musical instrument heritage, as the location for his club where he envisions a gathering place for his followers.
Yungblud told the Daily Star: “It’s opening this year. I want people to hang out, meet and have a physical space to make real connections in this virtual world. There will be a leopard pool table downstairs.”
He added: “My biggest dream is to have clubs all over the world where my fanbase can hang out, seven days a week, open all day and at night. London is hopefully just the first one.”
This announcement comes following the success of Yungblud’s own festival at Milton Keynes Bowl last month and coincides with the release of his latest album ‘Idols’. Yungblud was also present at Black Sabbath’s final concert at Villa Park last week, taking the opportunity to pay homage to his “uncle” Ozzy Osbourne during what was Osbourne’s final bow on stage.
On that day, Yungblud honoured Ozzy with a custom-made necklace, reciprocating a gesture made three years prior when Ozzy gifted him a cross on a chain.
Reflecting on a spontaneous show at Pryzym in Kingston on Tuesday, Yungblud said: “It was time for me to return the favour and let him know what he and the band means to me. I hope I can last as long in music as Ozzy has, because that’s the dream for any artist. That’s what Ozzy can show when he’s at the Pearly Gates, or wherever it is we go.”
Many of Yungblud’s idols, including Metallica and Guns N’ Roses, were present at the concert, leading Yungblud to confess: “The whole day was 13-year-old me’s dream.”
The event was also a massive success, raising an impressive £140 million for charity. Tom Morello, star of Rage Against The Machine, served as the event’s director. He disclosed: “We raised a ton of money for a great cause and so many great musicians, bands and fans all over the world paid tribute to the all time greats.”
Proceeds will be evenly distributed among Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Cure Parkinson’s, and Midlands-based Acorns Children’s Hospice.
