Andrea Berta handed Arsenal transfer green light as huge deal edges closer after £34.6m decision

Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta could be about to take a key step towards sanctioning his first summer exit courtesy of another Premier League transfer being called off.

The Gunners have been completely focused on new signings over the last few months, with Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres all arriving in the space of 25 days during July.

August has, unsurprisingly, been much quieter with the priority being to seal departures. Berta and Co. have thus far had no luck, but that could now be about to change as a transfer elsewhere could kick-start a chain of events involving Arsenal.

With all of that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest Arsenal transfer rumours;

Muniz to Atalanta off and Nelson impact

With minimal (serious) updates on potential Arsenal exits, it is absolutely worth looking elsewhere to see if other departures can help set plans in motion and it looks as though one of those has emerged.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Atalanta are closing in on signing Nikola Krstovic from Lecce after seeing their £34.6million (€40m) for Rodrigo Muniz rejected by Fulham.

With huge funds NOT secured, the Cottagers may be reluctant to submit a third bid to Shakhtar Donetsk to sign Kevin which could directly impact their pursuit of Reiss Nelson which had been placed on hold while the Brazilian winger was pursued.

football.london says: These two Fulham deals could have a major impact on Arsenal with Berta likely hoping it means they return to the table for Nelson.

Another loan switch for the 25-year-old does look likely but the north Londoners will also be hoping he seals a permanent move if certain conditions are met during his temporary spell at Craven Cottage. The first departure going through will likely the hardest but with many more on the agenda, it needs to happen imminently.

With loan exits most likely for those players deemed available, it does seem highly unlikely that a seventh addition will be pursued.

Kiwior exit latest

Jakub Kiwior is another that could be on the move with interest from AC Milan and Porto present.

It has been claimed by SamC_reports via Give Me Sport that the latter held a meeting for Kiwior yesterday, but that Arsenal will make any exit difficult. He added that the latest potential deal discussed was a loan agreement, with mandatory buy-option.

football.london says: Kiwior is perhaps the only player Arsenal may feel they can get suitable funds for given his impressive few months at the end of last season.

The Poland international now appears to be quite far down the pecking order which explains why the Gunners are not ruling out an exit. However, considering the injury issues suffered in defence over these last few years, it makes just as much sense why they are reluctant to let him go.

If some financial compromises can be met, the deal could certainly go through but as things stand, it does not look likely that Arsenal will be willing to do that.
