A packable raincoat is earning rave reviews on Amazon. The 33,000ft Women’s Rain Jacket retails for £36.99, but at the time of writing, it’s discounted to £31.44. The jacket is only available on Amazon. The lightweight jacket comes in 14 different colours: beige, black, dark blue, dark greyish blue, dotted pink, pink, Moroccan blue, light grey, khaki, ice green, sapphire blue, sky blue, yellow, and wine red.

The jacket is designed to be both waterproof and breathable. It comes with a carry pouch, and can be folded down and stashed in a bag until the weather inevitably changes. The jacket itself has elastic cuffs and an adjustable hood. There are zippered outside pockets, and the jacket is long enough to reach to the knees for maximum waterproofing.

Alternatively, you can try the Women’s Pack-It III Waterproof Jacket, which is down to £25 from £50 at Regatta. It comes in seven different colours and is apparently small enough to pack into a pocket.

The Amazon jacket has 4.3 stars from 1,895 reviews. One person said: “I never understand why so many ladies coats end at the waist or the bum. So happy to find this coat. Long enough to cover the bum, lightweight enough to keep me from overheating, but waterproof and a good hood to keep me dry. As an added bonus, I checked some of the other reviews and ordered a 14 which fits absolutely fine and not tight across the bust or hips as many other coats are.

“Zips all the way up and is comfortable, not restrictive across the bust. AND it has a double zip!!! SO useful – why don’t all coat makers use these? So if you’re getting in the car or sitting on the train, or need to get your phone out of your trouser pocket (me) you can unzip from the bottom up. Perfect.”

Another wrote: “Very impressive and the material is good quality. Windproof and rain protection. The size was perfect, very wearable and lining for the pockets. Value for money.”

“Great lightweight jacket that is finished well and folds to a small size for slipping on your bag,” a third said. “I haven’t been out in heavy rain yet, but the seams are taped and the fabric is definitely water-resistant. Good length.”

However, some people complained the jacket wasn’t fully waterproof. One of them wrote: “First time I used it, my clothes underneath were very wet and I was soaked to the skin. This garment was in no way waterproof.”

But another rave review added: “Does as it said, rainproof. Use it to walk the dog and it does the job. Good length just past my knee but easy to pack in handbag for emergencies.”
