While London missed out on the worst of Storm Amy, we will all be relieved to get a sunnier day
BBC Weather has forecast four days of sun in London as temperatures are set to rise to 20C in the capital. A London weather map shows exactly where and when things are set to heat up this week.
The improvement in weather will be welcome to Londoners after the capital was battered by winds from Storm Amy over the weekend. All eight of the Royal Parks were forced to close their gates over the weekend as London was hit by 50mph winds. The parks reopened their gates on Sunday morning.
While London missed out on the worst of the storm, there were still stronger bouts of wind across the capital as the north of the UK bore the brunt of the bleak weather.
Temperatures will rise to 20C this afternoon (Monday, October 6) with a Netweather map showing that the high will reach London at around 3pm. BBC forecasts some light rain on Wednesday morning as things are set to turn a little cloudier.
There will then be four days of sunshine in the capital as temperatures level out in the high teens level. BBC’s long-range forecast hints at more sunshine in the pipeline.
There will be a day of glorious cloud-free sunshine on both Thursday 16 and Saturday 18. BBC Weather forecast says: “Plenty of sunshine on Thursday morning but becoming widely cloudy in the afternoon. Friday will see a mix of thick cloud and a few sunny breaks at times. Dry and settled through the period.”
The Met Office offers a slightly cloudier alternative. Tuesday through Sunday are set to be cloudy, with temperatures in the mid teens, although things are still predicted to stay dry.
