Rain is just around the corner as the capital creeps towards winter

BBC Weather has predicted the exact day rain is set to hit London after four days of glorious sunshine. While London is in for a lengthy dry spell, rain is just around the corner as the capital creeps towards winter.

Temperatures are set to remain in the high teens, with sunny intervals and light winds forecast for the rest of the week, before heading into a spell of glorious sunshine.

There are then set to be four days of clear skies and sunny weather from Tuesday (October 14), which will last right up until the end of the week. Some cloud is then set to creep in over the coming weekend (Saturday, October 18).

BBC Weather weekend forecast says: “Tonight will see clear spells and a few light areas of cloud. A gentle to moderate breeze. A chilly night, especially in rural areas. Tomorrow will see a chilly start with plenty of sunshine and just a few areas of cloud, mainly in the afternoon. A touch warmer.

“Friday will see any patchy mist lift to leave mostly cloudy skies and just the odd brighter spell at times. Saturday will see some low cloud at first, but this will dissipate to leave plenty of sunshine in the afternoon. Sunday will see areas of mist and fog lift to leave long spells of sunshine for the rest of the day.”

Rain is then set to hit the capital at the start of the coming week. London will remain damp and dreary for the next few days, according to BBC Weather.

The Met Office offers a similar outlook for the weather in London, which it forecasts to remain dry and in the high teens for the rest of the week. Tonight is set to be somewhat foggy, feeling much cooler as temperatures drop down to 8C in London.

Thursday

Expect a chilly start, but it’ll be a bright day overall with plenty of sunshine and just some patchy cloud developing in the afternoon. Winds will remain light throughout. Temperatures will rise a touch compared to recent days, with highs reaching around 17°C. The night will turn cloudier again, and fog patches are possible where skies clear.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday

The weather will stay mostly dry and settled heading into the weekend.

  • Friday: Any early mist or fog will lift, leaving mostly cloudy skies with the occasional brighter spell.

  • Sunday: Early mist and fog will clear to reveal another fine day with long sunny spells.
