The area is home to a number of A-list celebrities including Sir Paul McCartney

Living in London is a dream for many global celebrities, and one particular area in the capital boasts an impressive list of star-studded residents. St John’s Wood is where you might spot Sir Paul McCartney strolling across the zebra crossing to Abbey Road Studios, or maybe Damian Lewis popping to the shops.

The latest star rumoured to be moving into the area is Oasis superstar Liam Gallagher. According to the London Evening Standard, a source reportedly told the paper that the musician is rumoured to have been house-hunting in the area.

It wouldn’t be the first time a Gallagher has lived in the neighbourhood, with both Liam and Noel believed to have rented there in the nineties. Noel also purchased a townhouse in nearby Belsize Park in 1997 for £2million, which gained the nickname ‘Supernova Heights’.

The residential area of St John’s Wood, located in the Westminster borough in North West London, is home to Avenue Road, which is gradually becoming the new Billionaires Row. It also houses national landmarks such as Lord’s Cricket Ground and the Beatles’ recording studio, Abbey Road Studios.

It’s no surprise then that Sir Paul McCartney has called this area home since 1965. The music legend reportedly bought his property for a rumoured £40,000, but today, that same amount would barely get you a dilapidated garage in Forest Gate.

It’s safe to say that the value of the property has likely soared since then, especially considering a neighbouring home was listed for sale at £16.95 million earlier this year.

Pop star Rihanna has rented in the area, living in an £18,000-a-week gated, double-fronted detached eight-bedroom house, which was later listed on the market for a whopping £32 million.

But before St John’s Wood became popular among Grammy award-winning singers, the neighbourhood was quite happy counting Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actor Damian Lewis as one of its locals.

The London native grew up in the posh suburb before making a name in Hollywood films like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the popular TV series Homeland.
