The star was reportedly joined by Lewis Capaldi
Swifties have been left surprised by Taylor Swift ‘s unexpected choice of location to shoot her latest music video. The Bad Blood billionaire, 35, is one of the world’s biggest stars and could easily choose from a plethora of luxurious locations for her shoots.
However, the American sensation is rumoured to have picked Croydon, South London as the backdrop for her latest video, with sites including the partially derelict Whitgift Shopping Centre set to feature. Taylor reportedly filmed the festive scenes alongside stars like musician Lewis Capaldi and actor Domnhall Gleeson.
Remarkably, the singer managed to evade being snapped during her week-long stay in Croydon, a place made famous by the likes of supermodel Kate Moss and Grime artist Stormzy. The Sun on Sunday reports that Taylor flew privately from New Jersey to Hampshire last weekend. It’s believed the video – speculated to have had a £1million budget – is for the track Opalite, from her latest album The Life Of A Showgirl, which was released in October, reports the Mirror.
An insider told the publication: “This video was shrouded in secrecy, with Taylor’s security team working day and night to ensure she wasn’t sighted at any point. It was like a military operation. But she IS the most powerful woman in pop, so if she wants to go unseen, she’ll make it happen.”
It’s been a momentous year for Taylor with the launch of her record-breaking album and engagement to Kansas City Chiefs star, Travis Kelce. The pair got engaged earlier this year, sending Swifties into a frenzy ahead of what is said to be one of the most spectacular weddings in the showbiz world.
Taylor and Travis are expected to marry next year in what experts predict will be a day to ‘dwarf any celebrity nuptials we’ve seen before’. PR expert Lynn Carratt said: “As we come to the end of 2025, Taylor seems to be in the best possible place – both professionally and personally. After riding the wave of her Eras Tour and releasing The Life Of A Showgirl, settling down with Travis is definitely the icing on the cake.”
When news of the couple’s engagement emerged, Instagram struggled to cope with the millions of likes generated by Taylor’s post. Lynn added: “The reaction was just incredible. They knew by putting it on Instagram it would blow up, and it’s all everyone was talking about – even President Trump commented on it.”
Alongside glitzy photographs of Travis, 36, proposing in the garden of his Missouri estate, the announcement included Taylor’s now iconic words, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” In just 6 hours, it became the fastest Instagram post to ever reach a million reposts.
