Police have slammed those responsible for the ‘unprovoked, violent and sustained attack’ against two 16-year-old boys that could have had fatal consequences

A gang of Croydon thugs went over the border into Whyteleafe armed with a samurai sword and other weapons and attack two boys, both aged 16, before intentionally crashing into one of them, dragging along the road and running them over again. Some of those involved can now be pictured for the first time after being sentenced in court for their roles in the horrifying attack.

Fabion Parnell, 26, of Goodenough Way, in Coulsdon has been jailed for eight years and three months in prison, while Harvey Manley, 22, of Rowdown Crescent, in New Addington, received a three year and nine month sentence. However, Manley was released back into the community at court due to the amount of time he had already served in prison after being held on remand since being arrested in March 2024.

Adrian Rozpara, 21, from Croydon, was given a two-year suspended sentence and community work requirement. They were all sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on November 18. A fourth man, Machas Tuzizila, 29, of Dunley Drive, also in New Addington, was sentenced to 10 months in prison at Guildford Crown Court on September 27 last year for his role in the attack.

Parnell and Manley have today (Friday, December 5) been pictured by Surrey Police. The terrifying violence happened on Godstone Road, near the Whyteleafe Tavern pub, in the early hours of March 9, 2024, when two 16-year-old boys were approached by the gang.

Rozpara was seen holding a samurai sword around one-metre-long shouting ‘where are you from?’ with Tuzizila also brandishing a weapon. Shortly after, one of the boys tried to ride away on his moped when he was crashed into by a car driven by Parnell. Using the car, Parnell hit the victim and then dragged him down the road, running him over again before fleeing the scene.

Manley then approached the victim, kicked and repeatedly punched him to the face and body before throwing him to the ground, rendering him unconscious. Tuzizila tried to intervene before Manley stole the victims coat and made off.

Urgent enquiries to locate all four men were carried out by multiple units across Surrey Police and Metropolitan Police. Manley was arrested within two days and a manhunt for Parnell and Tuzizila saw them arrested in April 2024. Rozpara was identified shortly after and arrested in Croydon.

DC Blackford from our Criminal Investigations Department said: “This unprovoked, violent and sustained attack against two 16-year-old boys could have had fatal consequences. Our investigation has been complex and involved several units and colleagues from across two forces. Thanks to these collective efforts, all four men have been put before the courts to face justice.”

Parnell pleaded guilty to attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH), dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified. Manley pleaded guilty to robbery, while Rozpara pleaded guilty to threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place and affray. Tuzizila previously pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and handling stolen goods.
