A man has opened up about what it’s like to be in a relationship with a woman who loves dressing up as a giant dog – he admits he’s lost nearly all of his friends over the unusual hobby

A man says he has lost of all his friends after revealing his girlfriend dresses up as a giant dog.

Demetrius was gobsmacked when his girlfriend Jade revealed she has been part of the furry fandom community for five years – she enjoys dressing up as her “second persona” – a dog with human characteristics.

The young woman, who calls herself ‘Jade The Fur’ has spent over £20,000 ($25,000) on fur suits and travelling to conventions to meet other likeminded people.

Demetrius was familiar with the community as he previously lived with a furry fan but found it “odd” and was “stuck in his room” when his roommate would invite other furries over. But he soon changed his mind when Jade attended on of his roommates parties and they hit it off.

The couple recently started living together and decided to venture out from Jade’s normal social media posts to support themselves financially. “We make adult content with fur suits,” Jade told Love Don’t Judge. The couple admitted they now have a “dungeon” room in their house where they film – Jade joked the room should be called “the kennel.”

Jade claimed that not only is her pooch habit fun, she is able to make money from it. She explained: “We moved into our first apartment and realised how expensive rent was, then we realised how expensive just living in was, because you want the nice in life, you want to be able to unemployed, have nice clothes, have your rent paid for.”

Jade informed her partner that she knew of another couple – other furry creators – that do adult content online. She added: “I was like because I’ve already spent so much money on it, I was like why not make money off all the items that I own. We slowly got into it and it took him [Demetrius] a while to really understand what it was and accept that we would be doing adult content online. It doesn’t really change our intimate life that much.”

Speaking about how she became a furry fan, Jade said: “I was in high school and I used to draw a bunch of characters with hair and like human characterises. So, I got my first fur suit – I think it was 2020. Furries are cosplayers. I was really shy in high school/growing up and these characters give me a different personality and it makes me put myself out there more. I see myself as an extension when I have my fur suit on. Demetrius is very patient with me, I know that the furry fandom is something new to him.”

“It’s kind of like looking at a dog but I’m getting used to it. It’s like a version of her but it’s still Jade,” added Demetrius.

Despite the couple being happy with their lifestyle, they are often harshly criticised on social media – including allegations that they are attracted to animals. The couple say that isn’t the case, they simply enjoy playing pretend.

“It adds an interesting second persona,” added Demetrius. “How we deal with judgement from our dynamic is we capitalise from it – it’s just boosting it more for us. This is literally paying our rent.

The supportive boyfriend has lost some of his support network because of his girlfriend’s alter ego. “Friends? I don’t really have any left from them finding out,” he explained.

Jade said: “The most important thing is when the support comes in from [Dimetrius] and he helps me, he’s there for me, he supports me through everything.” Dimetrius had a message for those casting doubts around their new income stream: “I’d say to anybody judging us, look at yourself first, because you see two people that are happy.”
