Arsenal press conference: Mikel Arteta on Spurs win, tense finish and title race

Mikel Arteta is set to face the press after Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The game got off to good start for the Gunners who edged in front when Pierre-Emile Hojberg turned into his own net from a corner.

Spurs carried a threat from their own set pieces though and thought they’d equalised through Micky van de Ven only for VAR to intervene and give an offside.

It looked a matter of time before Spurs would get an equaliser that counted, but it was instead Arsenal who doubled their lead when Bukayo Saka finished off a slick counter attack. Kai Havertz then sent Arsenal into dreamland by adding a third from a corner with just the Gunners’ second shot on target of the game.

The performance levels arguable increase in the second half, but Spurs found a way back into the game when David Raya’s inexplicable error made it 3-1.

Declan Rice’s tired challenge then saw a penalty awarded by VAR that Heung-Min Son was able to dispatch to set up a nervy finish. Despite the scare, Arsenal were able to hold on for a huge three points that extends their lead at the top of the Premier League to four points.

You can hear everything Arteta has to say on all that and more with football.london‘s chief Arsenal correspondent Kaya Kaynak in our live blog below.
