The Repair Shop star Jay Blades has announced his beloved uncle has been murdered. During a heartbreaking announcement shared to Instagram on Tuesday (April 30), the 54-year-old, from Hackney, spoke to the camera and said he had just bid farewell to his uncle at the funeral following his tragic death weeks ago.
In the sad video, Jay admitted the shocking loss had left him feeling ‘messed up’. However, the TV star didn’t go into any further details surrounding the death of his uncle, but he claimed his late uncle was ‘murdered’.
Following his loss, Jay announced he is stepping away from social media temporarily to prioritise his wellbeing and will seek therapy.

Jay said: “Hope you’re all well. This is kind of like a public service announcement. I’ve just been to my uncle’s funeral, he was murdered a few weeks ago. Really, super nice guy, shouldn’t have happened to him, but it really affected me.
“I feel a little bit messed up. So what I’m intending on doing is this. I’m coming off social media for a bit, and I’ll be back in a bit. Going to go and get some therapy and just chill out. Please, take care of each other, take care of yourself, and I’ll see you guys soon.”
Since sharing his sad news, Jay has been inundated with messages of support from friends and fans. One person wrote: “I am so sorry to hear this Jay. What a shock for you. Take all the time you need X.”
A second added: “So so sorry to hear this. Take your time. Go gently. Sending love”. While a third stated: “So very sorry for your loss Jay that’s just awful. Much love to you and your family.”
Julia Bradbury also offered her condolences and wrote: “Sorry to hear this Jay. Glad you’re taking some time out”. Louise Minchin wrote: “I am so sorry to hear this, sending you love xx.”
Fred Sirieix sent a red heart emoji, while 5News host Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije said: “Look after you bro. So sorry for your loss.”
