Chelsea are starting to make their moves to appoint a successor to Mauricio Pochettino as soon as possible with Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna emerging as a frontrunner for the role. football.london understands that Ipswich have been approached by Chelsea over a potential move for McKenna.

But the Blues also face competition from Brighton. The Seagulls are also on the lookout for a new boss following the departure of Roberto De Zerbi at the end of the season.

De Zerbi was the early bookmakers’ favourite to take over at Chelsea, but he has since dropped down the odds. McKenna along with fellow newly-promoted manager Enzo Maresca and Brentford boss Thomas Frank are among the names said to be interesting Chelsea.

Maresca is currently at Leicester City, having led them to the Championship title in his first full season in management in the campaign just gone. The Italian is a former assistant manager of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. But like McKenna, he has no managerial experience in the Premier League.
