Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Riccardo Calafiori, although a transfer agreement with Bologna is not quite yet over the line.
Mikel Arteta could not offer an update on their pursuit when asked ahead of the club’s pre-season tour of the USA. However, he did give an injury update on Takehiro Tomiyasu.

The striker has been expected to be sold this summer after limited minutes in 2024 and now a ÂŁ25m fee could be received for the academy product. Kieran Tierney and Oleksandr Zinchenko have also been linked with Arsenal departures.
Arteta is thought to want a midfielder this summer and have reportedly set sights on Mikel Merino, who seems set to leave Real Sociedad. The Gunners may have Manchester United as competition.
