Arsenal get green light for cut-price £21.9m transfer as striker ‘stance’ emerges

Brian Brobbey could be available for £21.9million – according to reports – and the Ajax striker is gunning for a move to the Premier League this summer. Arsenal remain in the market for a new striker and the 22-year-old is seen as a viable option for Edu and other key figures at the Emirates Stadium to explore.

Brobbey has scored 49 goals in 119 games for the Amsterdam giants – either side of 12 months at RB Leipzig where he struggled to make his mark – while he has been capped three times by the Netherlands senior team. It’s thought he could leave the Johan Cruyff Arena for a second time, permanently, this summer.

Arsenal signed Gabriel Jesus in 2022 and Kai Havertz – brought in from Chelsea last summer – regularly operated as a false nine for the Gunners last season. However, in a bid to bridge the gap on Manchester City, key figures want a different option to boost Mikel Arteta’s side in attacking quarters.

With that in mind, reports from Sky Germany – via Florian Plettenberg on social media – indicate Brobbey could be available for between €25million and €30million this summer. Italian side AS Roma are thought to be in the market for his signature, but the player himself is claimed to prefer a move to the Premier League instead.

Manchester United have been linked with the Dutchman for quite some time, meanwhile, but they have snapped-up compatriot Joshua Zirkzee already this summer. Brobbey progressed through Ajax’s famed system.

He has three years left to run on his contract in Amsterdam. Other names mooted in Arsenal’s ongoing search for a striker include Ivan Toney, Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen.
