Caicedo and Tosin mistakes, Mudryk uninspiring – Chelsea first-half player ratings vs Man City

Chelsea trailed at the half-time break against Manchester City after making a terrible start at the Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

Erling Haaland scored a quick-fire double for City after some horrific defending from the Blues. Firstly, Tosin Adarabioyo lost possession and Haaland was then felled by Levi Colwill for a penalty. Haaland converted, was forced to retake and scored again.

Then the Norway international grabbed another after Moises Caicedo gave the ball away in a dangerous area.

Robert Sanchez – Nearly got to the retaken penalty. Could not do much about the other goal. 6.

Reece James – Sloppy in possession. 5.5.

Tosin Adarabioyo – Costly mistake to give the ball away that led to Levi Colwill fouling Haaland. 4.

Levi Colwill – Tripped Haaland for the first penalty. Not sure he had too much choice thanks to his teammates giving the ball away in a dangerous position. 5.5.

Malo Gusto – Found it difficult to create much when he did overlap from the left-hand side. 5.5.

Romeo Lavia – He looked off it. Too sloppy in possession after impressing in the opening three games. 5.5.

Moises Caicedo – Gave the ball away for the second goal. The definition of rusty. A few nice passes as the half went on. 5.5.

Enzo Fernandez – Played a beautiful pass to Christopher Nkunku for Chelsea’s best chance of the half. Missed a great chance just before half-time, and was then booked before the break. 6.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – Struggled to get involved on the left-hand side. 5.5.

Christopher Nkunku – Unfortunate not to score on 23 minutes. Stefan Ortega Moreno did well. 6.

Mykhailo Mudryk – Played out on the right-hand side. Uninspiring. Went backwards too often. 5.
