The summer transfer window deadline has been brought forward, with the window no longer shutting at 11pm.

The Premier League transfer window will open early between Sunday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 10 due to an exceptional registration period for the expanded Club World Cup. It will then open again on Monday, June 16 with clubs free to do business until Monday, September 1.

Both windows will close at 7pm, it has been confirmed. Normally, clubs have until 11pm to buy and sell players but will now have four hours less than normal to complete deals on deadline day.

According to The Athletic, the Football Association (FA), the Premier League and the English Football League (EFL) all agreed to implement the change. It’s possible other leagues across Europe also make a similar change.

Staff at football clubs working normal hours on deadline day was one of the reasons why the change has been implemented, according to the report.

A decision is yet to be made on the time the winter transfer window will close on February 2, 2026.

This summer’s first transfer window will open on June 1 and then close on June 10. The newly expanded Club World Cup will feature the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid and allow them to alter their squads before the tournament in America kicks off. All clubs in the Premier League are free to do deals, not just those who are playing in the tournament.

Clubs usually have a two-hour period after the cut-off point to complete deals, but paperwork will need to have been submitted to the FA by 7pm.
