The adorable reason Liam Gallagher doesn’t like going on tour any more

In an interview last year, Liam Gallagher revealed that he doesn’t look forward to going on tour anymore for one adorable reason – because he misses his dog. A dog sanctuary in Thailand, where Liam adopted a dog in 2023, has even jokingly attributed the unexpected Oasis reunion to the rescue dog it provided to Liam.

Happy Doggo facilitated the adoption of street pup Buttons by the notorious Britpop figure after he became smitten with her via the rescue centre’s social media posts. The sweet dog found her way to the sanctuary after being deserted in the jungle as a puppy.

In 2023, Buttons was taken on a 14,000-mile journey to Liam’s home and since then, the rock ‘n’ roll icon has been utterly besotted – posting pictures of himself showering Buttons with affection and taking her for walks. He even confessed that he no longer enjoys touring because he misses her.

During an appearance on the Jonathan Ross Show last year, he admitted: “Yeah, it’s terrible, man. I don’t wanna go on tour no more. I wanna stay at home with her.”

Since getting Buttons, Liam, 52, has dedicated Oasis’ hit Half the World Away to Buttons during some performances- a nod to her origins half the world away, reports the Express. Liam also reportedly donated the globe that adorned the stage during his latest tour to Manchester Co-op Live arena – in exchange for a £25,000 donation to Happy Doggo.

Yesterday, Niall Harbison, the Irishman who manages the charity in Koh Samui, posted on X: “Little Buttons came into our little sanctuary @wearehappydoggo in Thailand looking for help. A year ago I delivered her over to @liamgallagher and her perfect forever home. I told her you are safe Agent Buttons, now get to work getting the band back together..”

He added: “Buttons didn’t know anything about the music industry as she’d been abandoned alone in the jungle but she said she’d try her best. She said all she knew how to do was be nice to everyone so she would give that a go. She had landed on her little paws. All joking aside, dogs have a wonderful influence on humans. I tend to think they bring out the best in so many of us. @liamgallagher has been a big supporter of everything we do at @wearehappydoggo and it means the world to so many other dogs still suffering.”

Then, sharing a video of Buttons at Liam’s home, he wrote: “This is Buttons now. Her main job in life is already complete at such a young age. She lives the life of a queen, gets her own private gigs and loves her new family. She looks so relaxed and stunning. Buttons says that love is the answer.”

On Instagram Niall posted the video, too, writing: “Buttons says she is very happy here. And no, she doesn’t have any tickets!”.

Meanwhile, when the Oasis reunion was announced, Happy Doggo’s Instagram account humorously labelled Buttons “bad dog of the week” for “knowing about the Oasis reunion for months and not even messaging us to tell us back here!”

The hotly anticipated Oasis comeback tour this summer is almost completely sold out, but fans looking to find out more can read about resale sites and official retailers here. Ticketing platform Twickets has also been endorsed as the official resale platform by the Gallagher brothers.
