Thierry Henry has sent Barcelona a message following Barcelona’s seven-goal thriller against Real Madrid. On Sunday afternoon, Hansi Flick’s side enjoyed a 4-3 win over Los Blancos at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium to go seven points clear at the top of La Liga.

Kylian Mbappe gave Real Madrid a two-goal lead inside the opening quarter of an hour before the Catalan outfit stormed ahead, netting four by half-time. The 26-year-old striker completed his hat-trick after the break, but the Spanish giants couldn’t find an equaliser.

Henry was in attendance at El Clásico, rubbing shoulders with Terry Crews and Travis Scott. After the game, the Arsenal legend posed for pictures with the American actor, Raphinha and Pedri.

He also swapped shirts with Lamine Yamal, exchanging one of his 2007/08 tops for a signed 2024/25 jersey. On Monday evening, Henry thanked Barcelona and Spotify for the hospitality on Instagram.

“What a weekend in Barcelona! Thank you @fcbarcelona & @spotify,” wrote the Frenchman, whose post eclipsed a quarter of a million likes by Tuesday morning. Henry was later spotted at the Travis Scott x Spotify live show.

Yamal and Henry arranged the shirt swap earlier this month. The Arsenal legend spoke to the teenage sensation on CBS Sports following Barcelona’s 3-3 draw with Inter Milan in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final.

Later in the show, Henry likened Yamal to Lionel Messi. The Arsenal legend said: “It’s great to see a new guy on the block, who looks like he might be dominating football, and I wish that for him, but let’s not put him under pressure.

“One thing that amazes me in football is you always think that there’s nobody better than Ronaldo than Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, [Ruud] Gullit, [Diego] Maradona, a lot of people, and then Lamine Yamal arrives. It’s crazy to think that guy is 17-years-old, it’s just crazy, it’s not normal.”

Jamie Carragher added: “That was like watching Messi in his heyday. When he got the ball, the whole game stopped as people wait to see what he’s going to do.

“We always felt Mbappe and Haaland would be the next two (best players in the world after Messi and Ronaldo). I don’t think [Erling] Haaland will ever be that, he’s just an out-and-out goalscorer.

“The way Yamal played tonight, I won’t say he’s better than Mbappe now, but there’s more to him. He will get involved in the game more and pull out wide.”
