A man ‘rammed into several cars’ while being chased by police in what is believed to be a stolen car. Police spotted the man’s car on Green Lane, Ilford at 11.15am this morning.
The car was parked, but as officers approached, the driver reportedly rammed into their squad car and made off. The officers chased after the driver, who is said to have then rammed into several other cars, both parked and moving, before police managed to stop the car.
The driver was injured and rushed to the hospital, where he remains. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of a number of driving offences, theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of assaulting emergency workers.
The Met Police released a statement about the incident: “At 11:15hrs on Thursday, 15 May, Met officers identified a vehicle in Green Lane, Ilford which was believed to be stolen. The vehicle was stationary but as officers approached, their car was rammed.
“Officers then pursued the vehicle, which collided with a number of stationary and moving cars, before it was stopped. The driver was taken to hospital, where he remains, with injuries not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
“A man in his 40’s has been arrested on suspicion of a number of driving offences, theft of a motor vehicle and two counts of assaulting emergency workers.”
