There are just two games of the 2024/25 season left for Chelsea, with only one of those being in the Premier League.
The Blues will look to secure their place in the Champions League next season when they take on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon (4pm kick-off).
Enzo Maresca’s side know that a win would be enough with the team currently sitting in fourth place in the table, Forest will however be fighting to stay in the race themselves, although they will need some other results to go their way too.
Following that game, Chelsea are in the final of the Europa Conference League. They take on Real Betis in what will be the first chance to lift some silverware under the guidance of Maresca.
While preparations are being made for the game. There will also be work being done ahead of the summer transfer window.
With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at a couple of the stories doing the rounds at Stamford Bridge.
Victor Osimhen ‘double deal’ update
Chelsea will face competition if they are to step up their interest in Victor Osimhen this summer, with Juventus keen to sign the striker when the window opens.
Reports in Italy on Monday, via Football Italia claim that Juventus are eyeing a double deal from Napoli that will see them take by Osimhen and manager Antonio Conte. There are reports that the former Chelsea coach would be interested in a return to Juve in the summer.
As well as Conte a deal for Osimhen is also said to be being eyed, despite his €75 million (£63m) release clause only valid for teams outside of Serie A.
Juventus are said to go above and beyond that price to try and convince Napoli to sell.
FL says : It seems that Osimhen is not a priority target for Chelsea this season, and his wage demands is one of the reasons a deal wasn’t done last summer.
Despite still admiring Osimhen it seems that other targets such as Liam Delap, Benjamin Sesko, Hugo Ekitike and Jonathan David may be more attainable. They are all also younger than Osimhen so may be a better long term investment.
Christopher Nkunku stance
As many of six clubs are ready to fight it out to sign Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku this summer, according to the Sun .
It has been reported that the forward is set to leave Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window having failed to become a regular starter under Enzo Maresca. The report says that Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool, West Ham, Paris Saint-Germain are all showing an interest in the Frenchman.
It adds that Nkunku’s preference would be to join a Champions League club which would rule out West Ham and possibly United. It is also said that Chelsea would prefer to sell to a club outside of the Premier League with Maresca aware of the risk of selling to a rival.
FL says : Ideally for Chelsea, any sale of Nkunku would be to a overseas team. Selling to a side who may be rivals next season is always a risk and could come back to bite a team.
Nkunku has shown some signs of what he can do, but has failed to do it consistently this season. Knowing the potential he has means that selling overseas would be the best option for the Blues.
