Primark is stocking a “chic” bag that looks similar to a designer alternative. The high-street retailer is a go-to destination for shoppers seeking affordable fashion and accessories, and it might just have another crowd-pleaser with the £14 Ruched Chain Strap Pouch Bag.
The “pretty” Primark bag is available in ecru or burgundy, and the design resembles a pricier bag by designer brand Loewe. The designer’s Medium Flamenco purse in mellow nappa lambskin is much more expensive than Primark’s bag at £2,700.
Loewe’s bag is available in more than ten colours, including a sea salt shade comparable to Primark’s ecru bag. However, the burnt red arguably looks the most similar to Primark’s offering.
Both bags are designed with a deep red tone, ruched shape and knot detailing. As such, there’s a similar overall effect. There are differences in design, though.
While the Loewe chain is red and gold, the Primark chain is gold. The Loewe bag has a detachable leather strap and is made from nappa lambskin with a suede lining, reports the Mirror.
Primark’s bag does have a leather-look finish, but it is made from 50 per cent polyester and 50 per cent polyurethane. Primark’s product description reads: “Summer style? It’s in the bag! Upgrade your new season accessories edit with this pretty pouch bag.
“Made from a soft faux leather, this bag has a luxe look and feel that’s perfect for evenings spent out on the town. Loewe’s product description reads: “The Flamenco purse is a lightweight and soft bag with a ruched shape, historical knot drawstrings and a donut chain. This medium version is crafted in mellow nappa lambskin.”
It’s worth noting the designer also offers a Mini Flamenco purse in mellow nappa lambskin for £2,200 and a Large Flamenco purse in mellow nappa lambskin for £3,200.
The description for the Primark bag does not include dimensions. However, it is £2,000 cheaper than each of Loewe’s styles. You can check availability at your nearest store here.
Elsewhere, Dune London is another brand offering a similar take on the same trend, again at a lower price point than Loewe. Shoppers can also save on Dune London’s Leather Drawstring Bag, on offer from £159 to £79.
It has similarities with both bags, but there are also design differences when compared to the Primark and Loewe bags. For instance, there’s a striking resemblance thanks to the ruched shape and gold chain, but the drawstring has a gold accent. The material differs too, as it is made from leather but has a recycled synthetic lining.
