A fifth man has been arrested more than a month on from Giovanny Rendon Bedoya being stabbed to death in Walworth. The 22-year-old was arrested by Spanish police in Barcelona on Monday (May 19) on suspicion of murder.
A court process will begin soon to extradite back to the UK. Giovanny’s family continue to receive updates about the case, police say. Giovanny, 21, from Walworth, was attacked by a group armed with knives on the evening of April 14 and sadly died at the scene
Four people have already been charged with murder. These are Zozoro Mohamed Olivier, 20, of Lorrimore Square in Kennington; Joseph Jimenez, 21, of no fixed address, Angel Gonzales Angulo, 19, of Camberwell Church Street, and a 17-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons.
Court documents show Giovanny himself was spared jail earlier this year over a zombie knife offence. He was caught with a knife on Portland Street, near his home in Burgess Park and barely 15-minutes from where he was killed.
Documents from Croydon Magistrates Court show Giovanny was given a six month sentence suspended for 12 months, 100 hours of unpaid work, and a deprivation order for the knife and a balaclava on February 14 this year.
