Arsenal’s summer transfer window is about to kick into gear with Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta sanctioning six new signings. The Gunners have already decided to formally pursue some targets in priority positions – but more dilemmas await Arteta and key figures upstairs.
Benjamin Sesko or Viktor Gyokeres will be one of those with Arsenal needing an elite-level striker in place for the 2025/26 season. A wide forward also coming in is another aim and, though Real Madrid’s Rodrygo appears the top target, a new alternative has emerged that could be perfect for several reasons.
Elsewhere, bringing in a defender is being looked at – amid talks to snap-up Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia. In that department, Arsenal have also tied down Myles Lewis-Skelly to a new contract with a major change arriving soon after the statement announcing his extension was posted to club channels.
With all of that being said, football.london has included a fresh perspective on the latest Arsenal transfer news and rumours.
Arsenal complete ‘secret’ signing
Arsenal are yet to officially confirm any signings just yet, but a first-team addition has actually been confirmed. Following Lewis-Skelly’s deal extension, he has now been moved to the first-team section of the club’s website while Ethan Nwaneri, who also enjoyed a breakthrough season, remains on the academy list.
football.london says: Lewis-Skelly felt like a new senior signing at points last season, such was the level of performances he displayed.
Injuries kept actual left-back summer signing Riccardo Calafiori out for much of his debut campaign but even if he had been fit, Lewis-Skelly’s impact likely would have left him on the bench. His emergence will also likely save the club millions.
It could be argued that even with an announcement made on him, the change feels like a secret signing has been completed.
£47m Rogers opportunity
Arsenal have no major worries over breaching profit and sustainability rules (PSRs), but Premier League rivals Aston Villa do. Unai Emery’s men had to sell Douglas Luiz last summer in order to avoid facing punishment over losses and with no Champions League football, the need for another sale is clear and the Gunners could take advantage.
According to The Express, internal discussions over Morgan Rogers are taking place with Berta gathering intel on several left wingers. He is valued by transfermarkt at £47million (€55m) and, although Villa will likely ask for much more, they may be forced to accept offers in that region.
football.london says: Arsenal could strike a transfer jackpot over the next few days with Villa facing a tight deadline to raise funds.
The Gunners need to sign a wide forward and though Rogers is more of a No.10, he showed last season how versatile he is – with Arteta likely to be a huge fan of that.
Unfortunately, there are likely to be several other players Villa would rather sell over Rogers even though significant profit would be made. Pure if the type of profit Villa need and thus academy graduate Jacob Ramsey is far more likely to be moved on before Monday, June 30.
