Managing Chelsea – Kudus transfer hijack sealed, £86m Jackson replacement, Noni Madueke decision

Chelsea are expected to continue sanctioning transfers in the summer window despite having already welcomed four new signings. Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr, Liam Delap and now Joao Pedro have had moves to Stamford Bridge confirmed with just over £100million spent thus far.

A deal for Jamie Gittens to join from Borussia Dortmund has also been in place for some time but as he cannot feature for the Blues in the Club World Cup, unlike Pedro, his switch being officially announced does not need to be imminent.

Once that move goes through, sealing exits will be a priority to balance out the books and also trim a very bloated squad. The likes of Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku and Djorde Petrovic are expected to move on while decisions are needed on Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson.

If the Blues can raise triple figures in sales, then attention will almost certainly go back onto additions with Mohammed Kudus, Hugo Ekitike, Antonio Silva, Victor Osimhen and Jorrel Hato just a few names linked.

With all of that being said, football.london has made some of the big transfer decisions on the futures of current players and moves for summer targets.

Kudus transfer hijack

Despite the fact three attacking signings have been made, Chelsea are still showing an interest in Kudus. To afford West Ham’s £65million asking price, it is very likely that Felix and Nkunku will both need to be moved on.

Madueke also departing, amid interest from Arsenal, would see another wide forward signing become important with Kudus perhaps as the perfect replacement. Tottenham have already got the jump on the Blues however, as talks with his representatives have started.

As the deal is not at an advanced stage, Chelsea could very easily leapfrog Spurs in the race for his signature if there is any delay during negotiations or reluctance to meet the Hammers’ financial demands.

Jackson replacement decision

Having been sent off twice in his last four appearances, Jackson has proven that he cannot be relied upon. Though Delap and Pedro can fill in for him, a suitable package offer being submitted for Jackson should be accepted and the funds then used to sign his replacement.

There are numerous strikers on the move this summer with Arsenal holding talks for Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres . Jonathan David has joined Juventus as a free agent while Matheus Cunha has joined Manchester United from Woves.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike meanwhile, has significant interest from several Premier League clubs including the Blues, Liverpool and Manchester United. His asking price currently stands at £86million (€100m), but if Chelsea can get that down slightly, it is a deal worth formally pursuing.

Madueke decision

With Pedro Neto thriving, Madueke’s role at Chelsea could very easily diminish and thus if an offer does arrive, it should absolutely be considered.

He struggled significantly at points during the 2024/25 season but his hat-trick at Wolves back in August was proof of his obvious quality. The Club World Cup has seen him go further down the pecking order though, and with multiple attackers coming in, his time at the club could be up.

He is a great squad option to have but if Chelsea can make close to double the £28.5million paid for him, he should be sold.
