Free pints at 400 pubs on one day of the week with handy code – and where to get them in London

There’s a trick lots of people don’t know about to get a free pint on one day of the week at over 400 pubs across the UK. The Money Saving Expert’s website has shared some handy hints on how to get free food and drink from some of the biggest chains that could help save the pennies.

From Greggs to Bella Italia, there’s plenty of smart ways to claim some grub or a drink without having to reach into your pocket. Morrisons and M&S are also included in the where you can get your hands on a free loaf or some Percy Pigs on their membership app.

Amongst their deals is a handy code that is sent out once a week and claimed on a first come first served basis for a free drink. 6,000 codes can be snapped up every Thursday between 5pm and 7pm – a perfect time to head for a free treat just after the working day has finished.

More than 400 pubs are included in the scheme – namely the Sizzling, O’Neill’s and Ember Inns chains. To claim the deal, which only comes around once a week for a limited time, you’ll need to O2 Priority app.

Once the codes are sent out at 5pm every Thursday you have to be quick to snap it up and then march into one of the partnered pubs in the scheme to claim your reward.

The offer only gives you one free drink but there are plenty of options up for grabs, priced from £4 to £9.50 depending on what you’re tipple is.

According to the Money Saving Expert, the drinks included in the deal are:

• Cocktails: Aperol Spritz, Long Island Iced Tea or Sex on the Beach – worth £8.95-£9.50
• Wine, 175ml: House Pinot Grigio, Barefoot White Zinfandel or Gallo Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon – worth £4-£7
• Draught cider, pint: Magners or Strongbow – worth £5.95-£6.50
• Draught lager & stout, pint: Carling, Tennent, Guinness – worth £4-£7
• Bottled beer, 300ml: Daura Damm – worth £6
• Bottled soft drinks, 275ml-300ml: Diet Coke, Coca-Cola, J2O Apple & Mango or J2O Orange and Passionfruit – worth £4.15-£4.35
