Arsenal suffer fresh Viktor Gyoleres transfer blow amid Benjamin Sesko update

Arsenal are making moves in the summer transfer window and Andrea Berta isn’t expected to stop despite spending in the region of £120 millon.

Noni Madueke became signing number four of the summer on Friday night after completing his £48.5m including add-ons move from Chelsea. The forward joins Christian Norgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi through the door with more new faces anticipated.

Defender Cristhian Mosquera is set to bolster Mikel Arteta’s defensive options but a new striker is the priority in north London. Here, football.london takes a look at some of the latest transfer rumours on this Saturday morning:

Gyokeres tour blow

Viktor Gyokeres is the number one target for Arsenal and it’s understood they remain in talks with Sporting CP to get a deal over the line. However, it’s growing unlikely that the 27-year-old will be part of the Gunners’ tour to Asia.

Portuguese outlet A Bola has reported that the two clubs are close to an agreement and there had been hope in north London that Gyokeres would seal his move in time for the tour, which kicks off next Wednesday.

The report states that the striker is still in Sweden and won’t be among the travelling party departing from London this weekend. It’s understood that the two clubs remain at odds over bonus payments and the schedule of instalments.

football.london says: “In the grand scheme things, this is only a small problem for Arsenal. As long as they get the deal over the line, it doesn’t matter when Gyokeres signed.

“However, having him part of the squad for the tour would have been a bonus. Giving him time to bed in and settle in with his new teammates would have been the dream scenario. The Gunners will be hoping to have him ready to go when they kick-off their Premier League season.”

Man United ‘serious’ about Sesko

There doesn’t seem to be a passing day in which Manchester United and Arsenal aren’t linked with the same striker and Benjamin Sesko is a new name said to be on United’s radar.

With the Gunners plotting a move for Gyokeres, Sesko is available and according to GiveMeSport, the RB Leipzig striker ‘wants ‘ to move to Old Trafford despite their lack of European football.

Ruben Amorim’s side are also ‘understood to be admirers of Sesko’s all-round game’ with United scrambling for a new centre-forward.

football.london says: “It would make sense wouldn’t it? The first day of the Premier League season, United vs Arsenal and Sesko vs Gyokeres. Arsenal grew frustrated at the lack of movement for Sesko and have opted for Gyokeres, they’ll be hoping it doesn’t come back to haunt them

“It’s hard to see how United are affording Sesko. However, if Sesko does move to Manchester, it would leave the door open for Arsenal to feel red-faced.”
