Arsenal are on the verge of confirming Viktor Gyokeres as their sixth summer signing, and with it, it will then be clear where attention will go. Sporting director Andrea Berta has endured a very busy first trading period with five incomings confirmed in the last 24 days.

The total spent looks set to surpass £200million upon Gyokeres’ arrival now that a full agreement with Sporting CP, worth £63.7million (€73.5m), has been reached.

The Sweden international is set to undergo his medical this weekend, with the Portuguese champions giving him the green light to travel to London. As such, it looks as though his arrival will be officially confirmed before the end of July, with it therefore also likely that he will feature in Arsenal’s pre-season tour of Asia.

Mikel Arteta’s side have already played their first friendly in Singapore, with a Bukayo Saka strike sealing a 1-0 victory over AC Milan. 22 players got minutes during that clash, but a few of those likely will not be at the club for the 2025/26 season.

Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga all impressed on their respective debuts, while Max Dowman shined. Meanwhile, Sambi Lokonga was one of six that did not play; very likely he departs this summer despite signing a one-year contract extension.

As things stand, no club has shown a concrete interest, but it is clear if that arrives within the next week, he would be free to depart. The Belgian midfielder is unlikely to cost a significant amount and therefore other sales will be required, especially if Arsenal are to make further signings.

Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze looks to be the most likely addition, given his versatility, with contact from Emirates Stadium already made. football.london understands that the Eagles want his £67.5million release clause paid in full if they are to sell.

That certainly suggests departures in addition to Lokonga must be sealed. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Reiss Nelson are two players to have attracted interest, with Fulham open to bringing the latter back to Craven Cottage on loan again following his temporary spell at the club last season.

AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund have shown interest in the Ukraine international with the hope likely to be that, given they are two established Premier League players, in the region of £50million is acquired from their sales. Karl Hein is also expected to leave the Gunners.

Those four sales may not give Arsenal enough financial breathing room to add another marquee player to Arteta’s squad. However, one of Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli or Jakub Kiwior departing could certainly change that.

All three have been linked to an exit and just one moving on could open up the door for Eze. Trossard has interest from Turkiye while Bayern Munich could switch their focus onto Martinelli if they again fail to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool. Kiwior meanwhile, continues to be linked with a return to Italy.

While unlikely, if a deal for one of those names advances in the next seven days, the Gunners could actually complete six transfers all before August starts with the following 31 days potentially used to focus on a deal for Eze.
