Cristhian Mosquera’s move to Arsenal from Valencia has been confirmed, with the centre-half signing a five-year contract and joining Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi as the third Spaniard to join the club this summer. The Spanish youth international has already flown to Singapore to join the group.
His move was hoped to be concluded before the team flew out together, but now the 21-year-old can focus on familiarising himself with his new teammates. He arrives with plenty of experience in one of Europe’s top five leagues at an already young age.
The defender has since been speaking to the club’s official website. An interview fans have known about for some time, considering a photo was leaked last week during the announcement of Noni Madueke’s arrival at the club.
“It means a lot to me,” he said in his first interview on the official Arsenal website. “There’s been a lot of hard work behind all of this.
“It’s an opportunity that came up and I couldn’t let it pass me by. I’m joining a historic, massive club. When you arrive here with your family, you really feel the greatness of this place.”
Speaking about playing with former Arsenal players Yunus Musah and Gabriel Paulista he said: “I have special friendships with both of them. I’ve stayed in touch with them.
“When Gabi and I were at Valencia, he always said Arsenal was on a different level and something magical and I also played with Yunus once here in London. He said the same about how huge this club is.”
