Pointless has unveiled its brand new line-up of celebrity co-hosts who will take a seat in Richard Osman’s chair in the latest series of BBC’s long-running gameshow. Every few weeks, regular host Alexander Armstrong will be joined by a new guest host, some of whom viewers will recognise from various TV and radio shows.

The new format comes after Osman announced that he was stepping down as Pointless co-host in 2022 following 14 years on the show. Some of the famous faces sitting behind the desk include comedian and TV star Ria Lina, The Great British Bake Off alumni Mel Giedroyc, comedian Chris Ramsey and adored fashionista Gok Wan.

Broadcaster Vick Hope, who is famed for hosting BBC Radio 1’s drive-time show with Jordan North, will also be co-hosting alongside Alexander. “What an absolute joy to get quizzy at teatime on the most iconic game show around!”, Vick said about joining the show. “I love Pointless, am obsessed with trivia and quizzes, and can’t wait to join Xander and the contestants every day from Richard’s hot seat. One very excited pointless co-host incoming…!”

The BBC Radio 1 star is no stranger to the spotlight as she regularly appears on television as well on the radio. The 34-year-old previously hosted Capital Breakfast and BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart: First Look, starred on Sky One’s Carnage, Crufts on Channel 4, I’m a Celebrity… The Daily Drop, the BAFTA Film Awards pre-show red carpet and Britain’s Best Young Artist.

In 2019, she competed on series 16 of Strictly Come Dancing and was partnered with Graziano Di Prima. But sadly, she finished in 12th place after losing to comedian Seann Walsh in the dance-off.

Before she was famous, Vick grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne and studied modern languages at Emmanuel College at the University of Cambridge, and can speak English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. She first got her start in the entertainment industry at age 19, when she was hired to be The Argentina Independent’s youngest-ever journalist, per her bio on Amnesty International.

Alongside being a dedicated radio host, Vick is also an author. In 2019, she released her debut children’s novel, Listen Up: Rule the Airwaves, Rule the School, and in 2021, she released its sequel, Shout Out: Use Your Voice, Save the Day, which she co-wrote with Roman Kemp.

Vick’s life with Calvin

Vick has ditched life up North to live in Hackney in East London with her husband Calvin Harris. The broadcaster recently revealed that DJ superstar Calvin originally asked her out in 2007 around the time his song Acceptable In The 80s came out — but she rejected him at the time.

“It’s something that we laughed about on our first proper date,” she recalled to The Daily Mail. “We still laugh about it now”. She Vick also previously reflected on turning down Calvin in 2018, joking that she was “shallow” at the time.

“He looked how he used to look, I was shallow, I was 19,” she said on Capital FM’s Breakfast Show, reports Daily Mirror, “I said no and I went off with either Scouting for Girls, or The Wombats. I don’t know which. I thought they were going to be bigger but no, it turns out Calvin Harris was going to turn into an Adonis.”

Though the couple were first linked in January 2022, it wasn’t until May 2022 that they were seen together in public for the first time as they attended the Chelsea Flower Show together in London, reports People. The emerald-cut ring on Hope’s hand caused buzz about a possible engagement, but the two did not confirm or deny.

Vick told Hello! that October, “You know what, I was very overwhelmed by the interest in it, but I’m keeping my private life private. I’ve never really experienced this before about my private life, but it’s just for us”.

The couple made their love official as they tied the knot on September 9, 2023, in the northeast of England.

Pointless airs on BBC One and iPlayer, weekdays at 5.15pm
