Chelsea could not have asked for a better end to the season under Enzo Maresca as they not only qualified for next season’s Champions League but also won the Conference League in convincing fashion.

The Blues can continue their positive momentum in two weeks when they travel to the United States for the Club World Cup. While it is not ideal, the tournament could give supporters the chance to see their new signing Liam Delap in action.

Ipswich Town’s talisman is currently completing his medical with the Blues ahead of being officially unveiled, reports The Athletic, who claim a six-year deal is going to be signed.

With Delap’s signature all-but-confirmed, the plan will now be to look at what other deals can be done.

Football.london has taken a closer look at a couple of other deals which could be on the horizon this summer.

Garnacho’s Chelsea stance

According to The Sun, Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho has made a move to Stamford Bridge his priority for the summer. It is understood that Ruben Amorim has told Garnacho that he must find a new club during the transfer window.

It is claimed that Garnacho wants to stay in the Premier League and has been enticed by Chelsea’s young squad dynamic, which Maresca has honed over the course of the season.

What FL says: Garnacho has shown glimpses of the player he could become at United however his expected exit from Old Trafford will ring alarm bells at Stamford Bridge.

Amorim has been brutal and the fact he is willing to cut ties with a player of Garnacho’s ability is worrying. But, perhaps with a point to prove, Garnacho could show Chelsea his best.

Sancho’s Chelsea move complicated

According to Sky Sports News, there are obstacles between Chelsea and Jadon Sancho agreeing terms on a contract. It is understood that Sancho would need to accept a pay cut to sign for the Blues permanently.

Chelsea are believed to be keen to keep Sancho now after his performance against Real Betis but it is seen as ‘touch and go’ whether or not the Blues can agree terms.

What FL says: Chelsea are being very sensible by negotiating hard for Sancho this summer. In truth, the Blues could find another player of similar ability on the market so they know they don’t have to bend their wage structure to sign him.

Twenty-five million pounds for a player who has completely lost his way since bursting onto the scene at Borussia Dortmund remains a gamble and it is unclear if it will pay off.
