Finding the perfect school for your child is no easy task – all parents want their kids to get the best education possible. South London is home to an array of incredible secondary schools which have all been rated as “outstanding” by Ofsted.

There are 41 currently different South London schools who have been awarded the top category, signalling excellence across the board. These include an array of different types of educational institutions including state, grammar and independent schools.

Students at Harris Invictus Academy, in Croydon, spend their days learning about the patriarchy – that’s when they aren’t busy raising money for their community. Meanwhile, at Tuke School, in Peckham, there are exceptional facilities like a hydrotherapy pool and art and food rooms.

A grade of outstanding means a school is achieving at the highest level across four key areas – the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.

The system will undergo a major change from November this year when there will instead be five categories and single line gradings will be scrapped in favour of a new school report card.

But until then the original categories still stand, which schools given one of four overall gradings – inadequate, requires improvement, good and outstanding. We have compiled a list of all the schools in South London rated outstanding at the date of publication.
