Tottenham Hotspur could be forced to wait until next month before being able to complete their first summer transfer.
Ange Postecoglou’s side will be looking ahead to next season in the Premier League and relish the chance of competing in the Europa League.
Spurs finished fifth in the top flight last term and will be hoping for an improved campaign when the season resumes in August.
Friday is the first day that Spurs and Premier League clubs are able to officially agree deals for new players. The summer transfer window is open and Tottenham are now able to add new additions to their squad ahead of the new campaign.
However, Spurs may have to wait before announcing any deals until next month. This is due to the financial regulations that the North London club may have to comply with ahead of next season.
The accounting year will officially end on June 30, which is also the same day that players’ contracts will typically expire.

A day later (July 1) is when players who arrive at new clubs will see their contracts officially begin, especially for free agents which will be the case for new Chelsea signing Tosin Adarabioyo.
Financial Fair Play (FFP) and Profit & Sustainability Rules (PSR) may force Spurs to delay the announcement of new signings until after June 30. This will depend on where Tottenham stand with their financial compliance with the regulations and, of course, if the club have any deals lined up ahead of next season.
It remains to be seen what areas of the squad Postecoglou will look to target this summer in the transfer market. The majority of recent rumours have been centred around the future of Cristian Romero, with the Spurs defender being linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent days.
It is going to be a busy summer at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Ange Postecoglou looks to make his mark on Spurs and improve on the fifth-placed finish of 2023/24. There is sure to be plenty of change at Spurs, with a number of key transfer priorities.
